Running

Okay, after looking at all of my old training stuff. It looks like I need to get up to 2 miles 3 times a week before I start training. Do you guys want to start a program on September 1? I should be close by then -- I think.

I'm not sure I'll be there by then. (What can I say, between asthma and really slacking off...) But I've was looking at some training plans on Higdon's site, and I should be ready to do a 12K by spring (probably before that, but maybe I can work on speed once I get to running that much. Plus, I've got the occasional snow and holiday traveling to work around, so...). I think I might need to be on a different plan that you guys. Would that still be okay?

I'm going to start this week with his 30/30 plan which is basicaly 30 minutes a day of walking/jogging for 30 days. After that I'm going to start the novice training for the 5k.
We can each start wherever we need to, right? I'm starting at the very begining since I'm not a runner or at least I wasn't, but starting today I am a runner. :)
In five weeks I need to get up to running at least 1.5 miles a day. I currently walk jog a mile in 20 minutes so I think it's a reasonable goal. Right?

I'm basically doing what you are doing, Sandra, but am going to keep adding mileage (since I'm trying to do a 12K in April).

Sounds great Kristen! I'll be happy with a 5 k by spring. :)
