The book I ordered, "Body For Life", arrived yesterday. I'm going to start reading it today. My plan is to start the 12 week program on Wednesday. I'm going to re-evaluate everything from my diet to exercise. I think it's time for an overhaul. David has even said he'll try it with me. That's exciting!

Keep us informed about how it's going.I'm interested to see what you think of it and the results you get.

I read the book today and it looks pretty good. There are a few things about the book that annoyed me but they were just related to marketing and the usual hype in fitness/weight loss books. The "your whole life will be better when you lose weight" type of thing, but the plan seems solid and it's fairly simple. The workouts seem very intense, but they are fairly short. I will keep you posted.

Cool!

Yeah, the workouts are too intense if you ask me. The cardio is fine (just intervals, not even HIIT, although he calls it that), but the weight training can be really difficult to keep up, especially if you were trying to work out in a gym or with a partner. You might want to design a basic program for your sister.

Kristen, I'm thinking about applying his method to the whole body workout I do now. What do you think? I really like Thunder's workout that you directed me too but I also like the ideas in BFL. Changing the weights will be a big pain in the @$$!
For my sister, I'm just going to recomend she focus on the diet portion for the first two weeks. Then we'll talk about strength training. I'm thinking about getting her a membership to the gym at the college where she lives.

What part of "applying his method" are you referring to?

It might be about time for you to switch to a new program anyway; how long have you been doing Thunder's routine? (They say it's good to change every 4-6 weeks...)

Sandy,
Check on the cost of the Chickasaw Nation's gym. They are usually cheaper than anyone for stuff like that and their gym is really nice.

Kristen, I was refering to the set at 5 set at 6..increasing the weight until you reach your 10. Kinda like backwards burns.
I've been doing Thunders routine for a while. It probably is time for a change.
Aola,
I hadn't even thought about CN for a gym. I'm going to look it up now. The one at ECU is $30 a month which sounded good to me because everything here is at least $50.

I think you could do that for a few weeks, and you'll probably see some really great gains from it. But doing it forever? You'll burn out. You need days/weeks that are not at maximum intensity. Know what I mean?

Kristen, Is your opinion of the BFL workout that it is too intese all the time? Do you think alternating weeks with high low intensity would be better? I'm going to try the workouts this week and see how I feel next week. Maybe going up to 10 once each week is a better idea.

Perhaps not entire weeks, but within a week, I think it's good to have a variety of intensities with the occasional week of "recovery and rest," perhaps every six to eight weeks.

Well, I'm having that rest right now. It's a forced one, but it's rest. I'll plan on alternating days of reaching my 10 and see how that works. I'm really excited to get started. I hope this cold thing goes away soon!
