Somebody, please, tell me that this will get better....

The weight is coming off slowly but not in the places I hoped for. My most problematic area is my middle. I have a fat tummy and waist. What weight I have lost has come off my butt and hips, leaving me shaped even worse than I was before. I keep telling myself just to keep working and eventually the fat will start coming off the midsection. I've ordered a couple of exercise DVD's to help me find some exercises to help.

I need someone to tell me I'm right.

I'm the opposite -- I always lose weight around my middle making the disparity between my hips and waist much worse.

I think toning with those videos will help.

And I think it takes longer to lose the weight in our problem areas.

You are right.

I'm the same as Becky.

I keep having to remind myself that we've really only been doing this for a few weeks--maybe six for those of you who started in December? Only four for those of us who started in earnest in January. That is not very long. It takes a while to gain fat and takes a while for it to come off, but it can be discouraging at times.

I wanted to skip my workout this morning so much just because I felt like, "Hey, what good is this doing?" But it's all about consistency over time.

Are you doing target stuff for abs? Crunches and such? I think it also has to do with body shape. I have friends who have these gorgeous legs, but no waist (apple shape.) I'm pear shaped, a curvy waist, but a huge butt and thighs. (ok, maybe not huge, but it seems that way to me.) However, I have a gained a lot of fat around my middle over the last year. I think it's from stress. I'm just doing twisting moves during my aerobics workout for now. But it does take longer to work off problem areas.
Don't be discouraged...Kristen's right, we just barely started. It took us a while to get here... it'll take a while to get back.

The one thing I've seen in my job is that there is no way of knowing when and where the weight will come off first, but if you stick with it, you will see the overall results you want.
You are doing a great job and I promise it will pay off in the end! Keep on keep'n on!
